Now the Tour is over, and I have this big empty space in the day. No more watching the stages and no more poring over the results to calculate the Fantasy Tour. The worst part is that the end of the Tour signals the coming close of summer vacation and the return to the teacher's life. I aim to wring as much enjoyment out of the remaining bits of summer vacation that I can as a way of fighting back against the dying of summer.

Shawn,
I am with you on the void in my day with TDF being over...thought Lance did great - old guys rule! Did you hear that Big George finished with a broken collar bone?
I am spending the weekend in Moravian Falls. I have been training for a long flat ride (Key Largo to Key West) which is in two weeks. How are the roads in your area? Do they have bike lanes? I presume they are at least hilly. Should I bring my bike with skinny tires or fat tires?
Many thanks. TO
Todd,
Moravian Falls, you could bring either bike and be happy. Close to Dark Mountain and OverMountain Victory Trail for some nice single track. On the road it's pretty hilly. Hwy 268 is mostly flat, but every thing else has some good climbing.

Thanks for the great TDF experience. You guys did fantastic and it really showed this year with the high participation. Congrats!

Shawn,
Thanks for your help with my new bike. I am looking forward to getting it on the road. I also feel your pain about summer vacation, it seems to go quicker every year. I also have a blog, with post about local mountain bike rides and runs, if you would like to check it out.
